FAQs
What age range do you work with?
I work with people across the life-span, from school-aged children to older adults. All chapters of life have their own unique challenges and I enjoy having diversity among my clients.
For those inquiring about services for children younger than the age of 6, I may provide short-term treatment for traumatic grief or medical trauma but will refer out for unrelated behavioral concerns- this is on a case by case basis depending on the specific presenting problem(s) and the child’s development. In our phone consultation, we can discuss how best to meet your family’s needs.
I am new to therapy. What can I expect during our phone consult? During our first appointment?
Lorem ipsum dolor sit amet, consectetur adipiscing elit. Curabitur dignissim neque metus, non porttitor purus cursus non. In hac habitasse platea dictumst. Duis faucibus lacus sed nulla congue congue. Morbi a ligula lobortis, maximus orci in, egestas dui. Duis fringilla ut nunc vitae vulputate.
Do you meet with clients in-person or via telehealth?
I meet with clients both in-person (offices in Pasadena and Encino) as well as via telehealth. As a rule of thumb, until the age of about 12 telehealth is not suitable for children’s needs and my youngest clients must be seen in-person. Studies have consistently shown that yes, EMDR can be successfully conducted over telehealth.
How is therapy different than talking to a good friend?
This is one of the questions I get the most from people new to therapy.
What is an LCSW? How is it different than a LMFT, a PhD, an ACSW, etc.?
Lorem ipsum dolor sit amet, consectetur adipiscing elit. Curabitur dignissim neque metus, non porttitor purus cursus non. In hac habitasse platea dictumst. Duis faucibus lacus sed nulla congue congue. Morbi a ligula lobortis, maximus orci in, egestas dui. Duis fringilla ut nunc vitae vulputate.
What is your rate? Do you take insurance?
My rate is $220 for a 50 minute session. Due to lengthy beaurocratic processes for reimbursements and limitations set by many insurances on treatment planning, no, I am not in-network with any insurances. For those with a PPO or HSA, I am happy to provide a superbill for you to attempt reimbursement, which will vary depending on your plan.
Quality, accessible mental health care is important to me and I understand how challenging it can be to find an affordable, experienced specialist. I reserve some of my caseload for sliding scale clients, please feel free to reach out and we can discuss. Children’s Hospital LA families, parents grieving the loss of a child, and children who have experienced a traumatic loss are particularly encouraged to inquire if needed. If I am not able to accommodate your needs, I can put you on my waitlist or refer you to other resources in the community.
How often will we meet? How long will therapy last?
